Fun fact: My first car was a Ford Mustang. Fun fact no. 2: I never got to drive it. My dad leased a beautiful Ford Mustang for me in high school under the condition that I raise my grades. But partying and skipping English class in favor of forbidden runs to Taco Bell (ironic for a journalist, no?) continued to take their toll on my GPA, and after a while, he made good on his threat to sell it. While I eventually managed to turn my grades around (I aced my first semester of college, thank you very much), I missed out on my chance to drive that black beauty — which could be why I feel so passionately about the newly released Forever 21 x Ford collection.
Launched in late March 2024, the 50-piece capsule line includes pieces for women, men and kids and houses everything from denim jackets ($47) and tube tops ($16) to comfy graphic sweatshirts ($32).
These sweatshirts, which I ordered in one size up, are not only perfectly oversized, they’re ultra-cozy—enough to be my new go-tos over far pricier picks from Anine Bing and Brunette the Label. And unlike most of the brand’s graphic tees, which are typically cut for the figure of a box (you know it’s true), the matching T-shirt ($18) gives you plenty of shape while still covering your midriff. (Don’t worry, there are plenty of tummy-baring styles available for the Gen Z-ers, too).
Though the collection is manufactured by Forever 21, it’s licensed by Ford (which also has its own collab with Sydney Sweeney — who knew?) and seems to be a cut above in the quality department. After snapping up quite a few of the pieces for myself (yes, half of my wardrobe does say “Mustang” now—and?), I can honestly say the quality is better than 99.9 percent of the clothing found on the site’s virtual racks. (You know it’s good when WWD dedicates a full article to its launch.)
Many of the pieces are 100 percent cotton, and they’re definitely giving more Harley Davidson (another unexpected rising fashion star) and less chintzy fast fashion.
Below, I picked out 10 of the best women’s pieces you’ll want to scoop up from the line while they’re currently 21 percent off — and still available — including several I now own myself.
1. Forever 21 x Ford Mustang Tee
I loved this tee from the moment I put it on. It’s nice and comfy, no doubt thanks to that 100 percent cotton material, and has a nice fit that’s not too short. It also has the aforementioned Mustang logo in loving memory of my first set of wheels. (To be clear, I do drive a Ford, but it’s a far less sexy Focus SE — sigh.) Last but not least, I dig the “bleach dye wash” at the neck that makes it look like it’s already worn-in. *Chef’s kiss*
- Sizes: XS to M
- Material: 100 percent cotton
2. Forever 21 x Ford Mustang Racing Pullover
For the last few months, I’ve noticed a racer girl aesthetic creeping into the fashion landscape (stay tuned for my blog post on that), and this little number, which features Ford’s inaugural 1960s Mustang model and checkered racing flags, only cements it. (Don’t worry, it’s currently en route to me.) If it’s anything like the other Forever x Ford sweatshirt I own (see: no. 5), it will also be super comfortable. Psst — it also comes in extended sizing.
- Sizes: XS to XL
- Material: 100 percent cotton
3. Forever 21 x Ford Denim Patch Jacket
This one is nearly sold out, and I can’t say I’m surprised: It’s easily the best item in the collection. The slim fit and tab collar alone would be enough to set it apart from the denim jacket pack, but the “Ford” patches really give it a little extra sumthin’ sumthin.’
- Sizes: S
- Material: 100 percent cotton
4. Forever 21 x Ford Unisex Mustang Cap
Guys, I don’t even wear hats and I want this. Unfortunately for me, it’s unisex and one size fits all, which means it’s almost sure not to fit my peanut-sized head. There’s also no indicator that it’s adjustable in the description or the photos. That said, I would snatch it up in an instant were my noggin of average proportions.
- Sizes: One size fits all
- Material: Cotton and rayon
5. Forever 21 x Ford Mustang Pullover
This is another piece I have and absolutely love. I ordered one size up for that oversized, slouchy fit, and it’s just big enough to be ultra-cozy without completely drowning me in it. It’s got the same bleach-dye treatment and Mustang logo as the T-shirt, plus a little “Detroit, Michigan” script across the back that feels a little bit like home. (While I’m not from the Motor City, I did spend a significant portion of my life in the state.) It’s 100 percent cotton, but the company does recommend hand-washing it: a direction that I fully intend to ignore. Let’s f*ck around and find out instead, shall we?
- Sizes: XS to L
- Material: 100 percent cotton
6. Forever 21 x Ford Mini Tank Dress
Another new piece in my closet, this mini dress fits a bit snugger than I’d like it to. At some point, I’ll likely wear it as a tank instead, since it just barely covers my ass. Still, for $20, it’s a cute basic that won’t look out of place tucked into a pair of high-waisted jeans.
- Sizes: S to L
- Material: Cotton and spandex
7. Forever 21 x Ford Tube Top
Look, I haven’t worn a tube top since approximately 1998, and if I did wear one in 2024, it probably wouldn’t say “Ford” across the chest. That said, for whatever reason, I don’t hate this on the model. In fact, I’d venture to say it’s downright cute. *Shrugs.*
- Sizes: S to XL
- Material: Cotton and spandex
8. Forever 21 x Ford Bronco Tee
Not into Mustangs? Rep another OG Ford in the form of this tee that celebrates the company’s 1966 rough and tumble SUV. It bears the ringer style that was popular in the era and an of-the-moment contrast trim, plus a full-length cut. (The pic is deceiving.)
- Sizes: XS to XL
- Material: Cotton and polyester
9. Forever 21 x Ford Mustang Lace-Up Tank
A cropped (sigh) variation on the brands’ tank dress, this has a simple cut and a classic Mustang graphic. I’m not a fan of the rhinestone laces — I think they cheapen the shirt a bit. If you pulled them out and replaced them with a black version, however, this could quickly become a rockabilly staple.
- Sizes: S to L
- Material: Cotton, polyester and spandex
10. Forever 21 x Ford Embroidered Pullover
At this point, I think I’ve made my feelings on crop tops quite clear. I’m also not someone who would ever be caught dead driving a Ford Bronco. All in all, I’m probably not the prime audience for this particular piece. If that’s your vibe, though, It’s made with the same cozy cotton as the rest and has a fuzzy little horse embroidered at the center.
- Sizes: S to L
- Material: 100 percent cotton
