It’s every fashionista’s favorite time of year: the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! Each July, the retailer offers up mega-discounts on all its most-coveted stock for the coming season, meaning you can get your hands (and feet!) on all the fall boots, coats, bags and more your heart desires before summer has even come to a close. The public sale won’t start until July 20, but if you’re one of the retailer’s lucky cardholders, you can shop the sale right now (apply to become a member here).
Sadly, some items will inevitably be sold out by the time the 20th rolls around, but, as I can personally attest, just because goods have been snatched up doesn’t mean all hope is lost. The store is apt to re-stock sale items as they get shipments or returns, so keep checking back on whatever it is you have your eye (and your heart) set on. 1. Nordstrom Kara Leather Crossbody Bag ($98 down from $150): Ironically, my favorite bag from the sale isn’t from a huge brand but rather from the store itself. The burgundy hue of this leather crossbody is perfect for fall (though there are four other colors to choose from should you still be reveling in the throes of summer) and the zippered flap top allows for added hidden storage.
2. Kensie Faux Fur Leopard-Print Coat ($150 down from $228): As anyone who knows me will tell you, I have a serious penchant for leopard. In fact, I actually have a jacket similar to this one that’s on its last leg after years of wear, albeit in a much lighter color. I also happen to adore Kensie, so naturally, this coat was love at first site — don’t be surprised if you ‘spot’ me in this in the coming months!
3. Kristin Cavallari Lash Split Bootie ($100 down from $160): Considering Chicago has a very limited window for transitional weather, I’ve been looking for an excuse to buy these gorgeous booties for quite some time, and the $60 discount Nordstrom is offering up on them just might be it. The fact that they’re from my favorite Hills alum certainly doesn’t hurt, either (sorry, LC).
4. Free People Ripped High-Waist Ankle Jeans ($52 down from $78): Anytime you can find something cute in the $50 price range from Free People, it’s worth scooping up — the clothes are quality, if typically overpriced. Nab ‘em while you can!
5. Topshop Bubble Satin Wrap Dress ($40 down from $60): I’ve been all about Topshop’s colorful prints as of late, and this orange cheetah design is no exception. The Diane von Furstenberg-favored wrap cut works on just about any body type and it’s classy enough to wear to the office — something I increasingly consider when shopping in my old age.
6. LUSH Surplice Jumpsuit ($39 down from $59): Here’s your chance to snatch yourself something you can actually wear before the seasons begin to change. It comes in four colors, in case you’re safely past the millennial age bracket (or else the only breathing member of its ranks that’s apparently not into pink) and features wide legs that will billow in the summer breeze. Aah!
7. Chloe & Katie Bell Sleeve Wrap Top ($30 down from $45): FINALLY, a shirt that’s neither a crop top nor off-the-shoulder. Trust me: There are plenty more flattering styles to be found, and this cute bell-sleeve piece proves just that.
8. BP Tonya Mules ($50 down from $80): I can’t say I’d be terribly surprised to see these little beauties move at lightning speeds. Not only are mules hot, hot, hot right now, this particular pair is unique thanks to a higher-than-average heel for the style. At $50, they’re also extremely affordable where leather is concerned. Cha-ching!
9. J. Crew Olga Boiled Wool Topcoat ($185 down from $278): I’m more or less a fan of any coat that doesn’t make you look like a giant f*cking marshmallow (I shudder at your puffers), but shunning The North Face types can also make for a chilly existence. That being said, I appreciate the warm, boiled wool fabric of this topcoat ALMOST as much as its mood-lifting hue.
10. Trouvé Rib Funnel Neck Sweater ($53 down from $79): Listen, I’m the LAST person who wants to be shopping for a sweater in July, but if you happen to be flush with extra cash, it’s not a terrible idea to stock up on cute warm threads before stores start charging you $100+ to stay stylishly warm. After all, as anyone in the 60626, 60625, 60654, 60657 (or any other zip code in the area) knows, winter IS coming. WOOF.
11. Halogen Faux Leather Leggings ($50 down from $79): As with my affinity for all things leopard, I also hold a special place in my heart for all things faux leather, including these badass leggings. They instantly make any outfit just a little bit less basic (always a goal), and, depending on the lining, are also surprisingly toasty on chillier days.
12. Mali + Lili Quilted Vegan Leather Convertible Belt Bag ($35 down from $54): There are very few fanny packs (let’s call a spade a spade, shall we?) that I can get on board with, but this just so happens to be one of them. It’s got all the panache of a Chanel clutch without the price tag. It also has the added appeal of being vegan — SAVE THE ANIMALS!!!
13. Nordstrom Chevron 18-Inch Spinner Carry-On ($104 down from $139): Every adult should have a grown-up piece of luggage, and this practical carry-on should do the trick nicely. It’s got a hard shell to prevent any squishage (yeah, I made that word up, deal with it), a personalized combination lock for privacy and plenty of organizational storage pockets. Now. Where to?
14. Tory Burch Leather Double T-Link Reversible Strap Watch ($130 down from $195): I know I’m getting older because I’m suddenly having random urges to buy wristwatches. I like this one cause it’s on the daintier side and looks just like a fancy bracelet.
